Apr 20: The Musical Colours of Manos Hadjidakis

Join us April 20, 2026, at 7:30pm, at 4500 Arbutus Street - Upper Hall.

(Note early date!)

Join us for a music-filled evening! George Yioldassis and Yannis Fyssas, along with other musician friends, will introduce us to the colourful and melodic music of Manos Hadjidakis, one of Greece’s greatest composers. Manos Hadjidakis (Xanthi, 1925 - Athens, 1994) transformed modern Greek music, bridging rebetiko and classical forms. He won an Oscar for best original song in the 1960 film “Never on Sunday”. The presentation and performance will also highlight the poetic lyrics of Hadjidakis’ songs, written by himself as well as by acclaimed Greek poets such as Nikos Gatsos.
