Oct 30: Greek Wine from Antiquity to Today
Homer's description of the "wine dark sea" to the fame or notoriety of retsina today, Greek wine has been famous for millennia. On Oct 30, Dr. Hector Williams will present a brief history of Greek wine in antiquity, and we’ll explore Greek wines available in Canada.

On April 3, Pharos is looking forward to a special, online-only lecture with Dr. Kostis Kornetis, visiting from the Autonomous University of Madrid. The topic is Memory, Conflict & Democratization in Post-Junta Greece.

Nov 7: A Tree’s Tears: The Story of Chios Mastic, with Sophia Karasouli-Milobar
Please join us November 7th at 7:30pm, in person at 4500 Arbutus Street, Vancouver, for a special talk on Mastic, a resin produced by trees that grow only on the Greek island of Chios. Mastiha-flavoured treats will be available at the event!
Pharos offers lectures on all aspects of Greek culture, ranging from ancient history, literature and archaeology to modern traditions including dance and music. All welcome!
